Sam's Story
Life
Was born April 30, 1936, in San Antonio, TX., at the Brooke Army Medical Hosptial. Spent the first few years of my life in San Antonio. My daddy, William Arnold Walk, was a career army man. Lived in Ft. Worth, TX., for awhile and also Stillwater, OK. My daddy taught ROTC at a high school in Ft. Worth and at Oklahoma A&M. Moved to Meridian, TX., when I was in the second grade. I have one brother, Bill Walk, retired Texas Ranger. Deceased. One sister, Betty Murphy who lives in Waco, TX. I attended school at the Meridian Independent School District and graduated from high school in 1954. Played sports in High School. Served in the Army Signal Corps for three years. Worked in Radio Broadcasting from 1955 to 1995. Married Kathleen E. Leslie, April 7, 1957, in Colorado Springs, Co. My wife died on July 18, 2003, with heart attack. I enjoy surfing the internet; playing Golf; watching movies; Bible study; playing golf; writing, both fiction and non-fiction; hiking and camping; photography, nature and slice of life photos; love to read, mainly non-fiction; fishing; astromomy - own and use a F=910mm/D=60mm refractor telescope; interested in astro-photography.
Workplace
Worked in Radio Broadcasting for 44 years. Frist job, KCLW Hamilton, TX. Then worked at KWFR San Angelo; KBAT San Antonio; KITY San Antonio; KITE-fm San Antonio; KQXT San Antonio and KSLR, Christian Radio, San Antonio. Retired, 1995. Last worked at the Scripture Stall Bookstore, San Antonio. Presently, doing voice overs and other voice talent work. (Pull a three year hitch in the Army Signal Corps. Primarily assigned to 5th Army Headquarters in Chicago, Ill., TDY to A.C.A.N. Unit at Ft. Sheridan, Ill.) Lived in San Antonio, TX., since 1993. I am listed in the phone book.
