Samantha Evans:

CLASS OF 1988
Winston salem, NC

Samantha's Story

Hello Class of 1988! I thought I would update my profile (Sept. 2009)since things have changed a little over the last year. The basic info is the same: still married, still have two wonderful daughters, still living in Clemmons, but I am now going back to graduate school to get my Master of Arts in Teaching in secondary education. I plan to use my zoology degree from NC State and my Masters in teaching to teach middle or high school science. It will take me about 2 years to complete the graduate program, but I am enjoying the change of pace and being at home again with my girls :). I'm not sure if I will make it to the upcoming reunion on the 25th, but if not, I hope that everyone is doing well. My life in a nutshell since high school: I attended NC State University and received a BS in Zoology and a minor in Genetics. I got married at the ripe old age of 20. I married my high school sweetheart, Eddie Evans, and we have 2 beautiful girls, Anna (12) and Alayna (6). Eddie graduated from Elon University and works for American Express in Greensboro as a Team Leader. Anna is already as tall as her mom (of course that's only 4' 11") and loves horses. My little one, Alayna, is 6 going on 16, and loves to dress up in anything that makes her look like a rock star with her pink Barbie guitar in hand. :) We currently live in Clemmons, NC. I was fortunate to be able to work some before my girls were born and then stay home when they were little. After graduating from State, I worked as a lab tech for the Anesthesia Department in the Malignant Hyperthermia Research and...Expand for more
Diagnostic Laboratory at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. I then got a real estate license and was a leasing administrator for Highwoods Properties until 1997. I quit work with the birth of my oldest daughter and was a stay-at-home mom for 11 years. I returned to the work force full time in January, 2008. I worked as a Data Manager for Reeds Elementary School through August and then transferred to Southwood Elementary (both are in Davidson County) where I worked as a Title I Math instructor and an office assistant through June of 2009. I began my graduate studies in June and am really enjoying them so far. Over the years, Eddie and I have done some missionary work in Puerty Rico and in San Paulo, Brazil. We were also fortunate enough to travel to Israel to see the Holy Land. We are both involved in our Church, Center United Methodist in Welcome. Before going back to work full time, I volunteered for 7 years at the Alpha Pregnancy Support Center in Lexington. The support center helps expecting mothers with the practical and emotional needs they are faced with. Many of these young girls need to hear that God loves them and that their lives, and the lives of their babies, are of real value. It was such a privilege to have been a part of such a wonderful organization. God has blessed me immensly over the last 21 years and I am so thankful. I sincerely hope that you are all doing well and I had a blast catching up with those of you that made it to the 20 year reunion last year! It was great seeing you all again. :) Sincerely, Samantha Merritt Evans
