Sam's Story
Life
I wanted to teach, fly, engineer, play guitar, and have a family when I finished BHS. I did it all.
I flew over 5000 hrs in the AF, near 1000 in combat in SEA. I was a command pilot and an instructor.
I was a project engineer on over 80 programs in the development and testing of weapon systems (like the A-10, F-16, and F-15). That ended after open heart surgery at the young age of 38.
I taught engineering, math, and physics at Kilgore College. I played guitar with the Kilgore College Guitar Ensemble. I taught Physics at The University of Texas at Tyler. I was a realtor and dabbled in real estate. I taught Physics to juniors and seniors one year at All Saints Episcopal school before fully retiring in May 2008.
I have been married for over 48 years, four children, three with masters degrees, one working on his PhD, and twelve grandchildren. My daughter is widowed with two beautiful children. My three sons married sweet ladies who all have college degrees and are great Mom's to their 6, 2, and 2 offspring. My grandchildren run from 2 to 24 years.
