Samuel's Story

May 2022 Married to Patty (nee Block), a.k.a. the "4B Widow" for 48 years as an official couple + 6 years dating. She is recovering from 3rd knee operation over 18 months, the last one a repair to her 2nd one. Work: 1. Civil investigator into the pricing practices of the legacy Long Term Care Insurance (LTCI). Author / blog / general nuisance to Powers That Be. Provided July - Aug '21 testimony to National Association of Insurance Commissioners who recently proposed a halt to a repricing practice. Progress here. 2. Appointed trustee / Treasurer for 501c7 Worcester Poly (WPI) fraternal organization dealing with financial challenges of Covid-19 and long-term Capital Expenditure projects to a historic house built in 1914. Sports/Games: Bridge - My regular long-term partner (with a 35-year gap) Jim Anderson, WPI fraternity brother, passed away ...Expand for more
recently. Now play at S Windsor Sr. Center and against the BBO robots. Softball - Tabled, except for practices at Star Hills in Tolland. Bicycling: In '20 did a lot of my 1st love activity. Spent a lot of time prepping my 6 bikes. Covered 3,500 miles. In '21, fewer miles but still a lot. In '22, still fewer. Basketball: Never have missed a season, '20 was a Covid scratch. '21 - '22 diminished due to waning post-Covid interest on the part of 60+. Took 8,000-mile trip on the Reading Railroad (Amtrak) '21 visiting some places never visited. No cycle and on my own, still quite the adventure.
