Samuel's Story
Life
Retired Professor from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.
I didn't graduate from Westbury but moved my senior year to Garden City. I didn't want to leave Westbury and never really connected with anyone closely my senior year there so Westbury is my real home school.
After graduation, I left for the Navy for six years as a Sonar Technician. That gave me the income needed for college and started my undergraduate schooling at SUNY Plattsburg. After finishing my education there in '86 I took a graduate assistantship at Miami of Ohio. Got my MS there in '88 and started working at WXXI in Rochester New York. a year at Rochester Institute of Technology to get my terminal degree in Computer Graphic Design in 2000. After returning to Western, I completed my career there earning Associate, then full Professor. I really enjoyed working with the students. The committee work, paperwork, and scholarly work can take it's toll, so I was happy to retire in 2016.
In the summer of 2016, Anne and I moved to Bonita Springs, Florida where we live in a very active gated community. We play a lot of tennis, bike, do some running, dancing, and hang out with our friends. We spend our summers in Lake Ozark, Missouri and live the 'lake life' there with boating, jetskiing, and kayaking. For a few weeks in the winter we stay in Ixtapa, Mexico to enjoy the surf, sand, food, and culture.
