Samuel's Story
When I was young and growing up on the Navajo Indian reservation, I had an uncle that was a Navajo Police Officer. I knew then that I wanted to become a police officer. I left from the reservation and relocated to Winslow, AZ, I attended all my school years in Winslow, until the 10 grade when I left from Winslow and moved to Salt Lake City, UT. I graduated in 1979 from South High, SLC. I enlisted in the Marine Corps after graduating from high school. tradition. I ended my tour in the Marine Corps in 1984, I left and conitinued to pursue my long term goal of becoming a police officer. I retruned to the Navajo Nation and entered the academy in WindowRock, AZ, I completed my training and became one the finest a Navajo Police Officer. I ended my career as a Sergeant, and left the Navajo Law Enforcement in 2002. I found work with another law enforcement agency which is the Hualapai Nation Police Department, Peach Springs, AZ. I been here since 2002 and to this present day I am the Deputy Chief. I have several months before I retire and hang up my gun and uniform.
