Sandi's Story

After drifting in various jobs I ended up working for a bank in Los Angeles. I wanted to go to Europe to ski but couldn't afford it so I decided to join the Army (they said they'd send me to Europe). I qualified for training as a Russian linguist and met my future husband at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. The Army did send me to Europ...Expand for more
e where I served 4 years and then got out of the Army to follow my husband around. In the last 36 years we have lived all over the US and in several countries. Now we live outside of Fort Bragg, NC where I am a protocol officer for the Commanding General, U.S. Army Forces Command. It has been an exciting ride but someday I hope to move back to Seattle.
