Sandi's Story

Beginnings I was born in PA and spent all my growing up years there. I lived in Grandview in McKeesport and it was a great place to grow up. The kids I went to elementary school with stayed friends in some form or another all the way through high school. I played in the orchestra in Jr High and loved it, but had been singing since I was little, so in high school I jumped to Glee Club and A Capella Choir. We had so much fun! School plays, concerts and competition. Top Twenty-one and Herb's Guys and Dolls. Parties: Paulette always had great parties. I had a couple. For my sixteenth birthday, the whole crew was there when I turned away my ex with his new girlfriend. That was pretty satisfying!! I went to Kentucky to go to college. Once I got in the South, I didn't want to leave. I have pretty much been a southern girl since then. I love Lexington, KY. So many wonderful memories there. Beautiful horse farms to see. Great people who have been my friends and mentors. Some have gone home to be with the Lord. Others have, like me, moved on - marriage, careers, life in general. But everyone who has touched my life has left an imprint, and I have kept them in my heart. College Asbury College was a great place for me. It opened up the whole world in a way I had never imagined, and really changed the direction of my life and focus. I made may friends there and remember what great times we had. The faculty were really wonderful. I have great memories even though I left early and didn't graduate. I met the folks from Christ Center at Asbury, which opened up a whole other world of people. I spent a summer, and later a year living at Christ Center, singing in the coffee house and getting to know dozens of people who came through those doors. Some of those people are still my friends. In 2000 I went back to school through Bluefield College's Adult education program. Since all my children were college graduates, I felt it was time to finish my degree too. SO I did complete my degree. I have also spent my whole life studying the Scriptures and teaching, doing counselling and praying with people. My Spouse I met Rob while living in Lexington, Kentucky. We were married about 6 mo. later. We have been married for 42 years (11/12) What a ride!! He is the best - always challenging me and pushing me to accomplish the things I want to do. His job has taken us places I only dreamed of seeing! My Kids I have three great daughters!! A nurse, a physical education teacher, and a counselling grad student. Not bad for three home schooled ...Expand for more
girls. Our first granddaughter was born on 05.She is a sweetie!! Our grandson came along in 08.Now our second granddaughter in 10. I love spoiling them Work I have done a bunch of things over ther years. Mostly I love working with my hands. I have run my own sewing business off and on over the years. Right now I am learning to use an embroidery sewing machine. In 05 I began work as the Relocation Director in North Carolina for Century 21. First with Lighthouse Shores, then with Nachman Realty. Nachman has 9 offices in Tidewater,Virginia and northeastern North Carolina I love Century 21 and the company that I work in. Great people making dreams come true. I retired from real estate in 08 to spend more time with my family - particularly the grand kids. I love being a full time Grandma and a management residence specilist. My Job Who can beat making money going around looking a people's houses? I love selling real estate, and meeting new people. Our lives... Rob is retired from the Navy and we have moved many times, including living in Spain and England. We have been priveleged to see many wonderful parts of the world, but I still have places on my list that I would like to see. I spend a lot of time working in our church, singing, counselling, teaching Bible studies, mentoring young families. In 04 we sold our horse farm to buy a little house on the Albemarle Sound in NC. I don't miss shovellling manure, and I sure love watching the sun rise over the water in the morning or sitting on the porch swing listening to the waves lap on the shore. Since our children have moved to KY - well Missy, Brandon and Sonya and a new one on the way, Rob and I are looking to move back there. We bought a little house in Georgetown to try it out. Rob works for Lockheed Martin doing what we fondly refer to as hero work. When someone messes things up, they send Rob in to fix it. He has worked on POSHANG, CVS 77, with the MOD in England, in Mississippi building the new Coast Guard boat, and on the USS Freedom for its INSERV. We never know what will be next. We would very much like another chance to live overseas for a while. Finally we bought a farm in KY. This spring(13) we have chicks and Rob has converted a run-in shed to a chicken coop. Hopefully soon we will move my horse from KY, The grands love the farm - animals, playing in the creek, hiking. It is nice to be out of town away from the traffic noise. My life has been so blessed and I never dreamed that I would do or see the things I have. It has been truly amazing!!
