Sandra's Story
Workplace
After my children were all in school full days, I began working in a Greenhouse. I had always loved the quiet earthy atmosphere of Greenhouses. My Uncle owned one when I was growing up & He taught me the basics of doing what I I loved. Some people rescue animals, I rescue plants. I learned an incredible amount of information & enjoyed the peacefulness of the greenhouse. Even as a child I had a God given talent of being able to take flowers, weeds, etc & arrange them into wonderful displays. I began working in a floral shop. Eventually I became a Master designer. But, I developed a contact dermatitis to some of the flowers I had to use. This happened while going through a very difficult divorce with my first husband of 25 years. This was unfortunate timing.... but when GOD closes a door on something He also seems to open a window elsewhere. I ran into an acquaintance I had not seen in years...(timing is everything!) I began to work for Williams on the Lake in the Corporate side of their business. This entailed a lot of "shmoozing". I soon realized this wasn't what I wanted to do for the rest of my working career. I then began training & working in the other end of the business. In time I began my career as an Event Coordinator/Bridal consultant, working primarily with weddings. I would personally work with the newly engaged couple & their fami...Expand for more
lies. From the first time they visited Williams on the Lake until the very end of their event, I was responsible to see to their every wish or guide them to a feasible option. I would help to coordinate every detail from the Wedding ceremony through to the end of their reception. It was my job to make happen every detail of their special day. Often my days would be a 10 to 15 hour day. My floral & artistic back round helped in making their day memorable by decorating for the ceremony, the entire reception hall & buffet. In 2006 I coordinated 28 weddings. I happily retired in 2007, to join my husband in Michigan. I miss working with clients but have settled into a less hectic life. I still free lance weddings for personal friends & family.
I am a Master Gardener through Michigan State University, I have planted a Culinary Herb tasting garden in Mount Clemens, Michigan. My life revolves around the Seasons. I am either very very busy..... or dormant in winter. :) Please check out my Gardening pictures. My love of growing flowers, herbs, & vegetables continues....God the creator is very much the Lord of my life! My husband & I are now retired. We have recently returned from a 10,000 mile trip across the US. We traveled for 61 days in our RV.
I am truly happy & I am "blooming" where I have been planted with the love of my life. Life is good!
