Sandra Hobbs:  

Hello! After high school, I went to Rockford College, majoring in Biology. I planned to continue on to become a veterinarian, but my senior year, God changed all that and I felt He was calling me to be a missionary! Over the next few years, I had various jobs, working as a veterinary assistant, a receptionist, and a desk-top publisher, during which time I went on 5 short-term missions trips. Each time, I became more and more convinced this is what I was supposed to do with my life. Finally, in 1990, I did my initial training, called the Discipleship Training School, with Youth With A Mission, and have been in YWAM ever since! I came to England for my DTS because my mother is from here, and I could visit family during the holidays. I planned to go to the developing world somewhere (I didn't know where), but along the way met Rob, who became my husband, and have settled here in Derby, UK. Along the way, I have led short-term teams to Haiti, Albania, Denmark, Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium, as well as around the UK. While first I thought my role was to be "out there" I have realised God uses me best in training and motivating others. People who have trained under Rob and myself have gone out as long-term missionaries to many different countries around the world, and are on every continent except Antarctica...Expand for more
