Sandra's Story
I left the state of Minnesota 2 years after graduating. Spent 1 year outside of Alexandria, VA and another year in Huntsville, Alabama. Left Alabama and moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1972 and decided very quickly that this was where I wanted to stay. Did move back to Minnesota for 1 year (almost to the day) and returned to Alaska. Contractors what materials they are going to use. I became certified as a specification writer with the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) and then went on to get certified as a Construction Contract Administrator. In addition to working at an architectural firm and writing specifications, I also am an instructor through the local CSI Chapter to provide certification preparation classes for the chapter members. Over the years I was very involved in CSI and received my Fellowship (one of the highest honors you can receive) in the organization in 2002.
