Sandra's Story

Life- I was married to my first husband, Willie Woods (CO 71), when I was barely out of high school. We were blessed with two beautiful daughters. I worked for the NJ Real Estate Commission in Trenton. Willie became deathly ill and passed away in October 1975. In early 1976, I moved back to Trenton and went to work at CV Hills on Pennington Avenue. It was there that I was reacquainted with the man who later became my second husband, Prathan Jenkins (CO 73). In 1978, I was blessed with my third baby girl. Though we were and always will be best friends and family, Prathan and I divorced in 1996. In 1987, I began working as a crash records analyst for the Fatal Analysis Reporting Systems (FARS), under the NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety in Trenton. In 2004, the FARS unit was moved under the NJ State Police Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and that is where I currently work. I now live a rather busy life with my daughters and my 5-year-old granddaughter. I serve in many capacities at my church. I love the Lord and I believe in his Word. And I try to live by what it says. I've been truly blessed. School- I loved school! Yes, I was one of "THOSE". In Monument Elementary School, I was close to being the "teacher's pet". I loved to learn new things and I excelled in music and the arts. I was blessed with a good voice and I was not shy when it came to using it! ...Expand for more
I was also a very romantic youngster. I daydreamed in vivid colors and had major crushes on several little boys in my elementary school. The biggest being on Gerard Starr, Paul Jones, and Johnny Mccants! I got a rude awakening once when I tried to let one of them know how I was feeling. We were in the 6th grade, at recess in the back playground at the baseball diamond. Johnny Mccants was propped up with his hand on the backfield fence and I was on the other side of the fence. I thought it might be "cute" and get me noticed (with my overactive, child-sized romantic mind) if I stuck the palm of his hand with my pencil (my very sharp pencil). Well, I did get noticed but that didn't go over too well. He chased me around the playground (not trying to kiss me like I thought he would). When I noticed that he was serious about beating me up, I ran behind our teacher, Mr. Cox , for safety. Johnny threatened to "kill me" after school. Thus ended my crush! LOL! After that, I stuck to daydreaming about my crushes from afar. (It was safer). All-in-all, I look back on my school days with a fondness and even though I didn't hang with all of you, I have good memories of you and those times. My prayer is that as I search and interact on this website, I will find that all of you have fared well and have grown and prospered in the best of ways (especially in the knowledge of Jesus).
