Sandra's Story
Update September 2021: Still unpacking in Leland, NC, just outside of Wilmington. Pretty nice here and I know I’m going to love it!
Update July 2021: I didn’t really think I would move again, but I am spending the summer with my son Brian and his wife, Dayna in Bahama, North Carolina, in the Raleigh/ Durham area . We are planning a move to the North Carolina coast in the next couple of months when my son’s job transfers him. So I am out in the country now, with lots of trees surrounding the property. It’s very peaceful here. I would be happy to stay here and just go to the coast for weekend during the off seasons.
Update 2017: I am still living in Fishers, Indiana, and I like it here but I think I want to live on a beach... or at least close to a beach!
Update 2014: I have retired and live in Fishers, Indiana, near my two sons and their families. Life is pretty good! The following was written about 2010.....
I took a new job and have been in northwest Indiana for nearly three years now, but I worked and lived in downtown Chicago for 3 or 4 years during the 90's, so I thought I knew what I was getting into. COLD WINTERS and ...Expand for more
LOTS OF SNOW. The winters seem to get colder and longer, though, so I am thinking of retiring someplace where snow shovels aren't sold, at least during the cold months.
Prior to living here, I lived in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. It's close to Biloxi. I worked there for about 3 years. Ever been though a hurricane? When I moved there, I thought living 4 blocks from the beach would be so cool......after hurricane Katrina, there was only one block between me and the beach - the rest was gone. The recovery on the Gulf Coast will take years. Now that BP has fouled the water, there is really an uphill struggle for the Gulf Coast.
Let's see, before my Gulf adventure, I worked for a company headquartered in Philadelphia and Chicago, but traveled a lot for work. I have been lucky enough to see Brazil, Argentina, Belgium, France, England, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Canada, Mexico, etc.
I live with Lady, my 6 year old German Shepherd and a white cat with blue eyes, named White Cat. I turned 60 this year (how did that happen?), so I have been around awhile.
I am still learning, still having fun, and (as Paul Simon said) still crazy after all these years.
