Sandra's Story
MY family moved to Altus Ok in 1960. I went to I suppose Eugene Field (can't remember too long ago) but googling elementary schools 1960 Altus OK. this is the only one that came up. I remember I loved the school it was so big! It had bubble gum and candy bar and soda machines. Not like nowadays. I remember the school was fun. I had many friends and do not remember any of their names except for one girl she was black and her name was Jackie dont know her last name. we played at school, as you all may know we were not allowed to sit together with the blacks.on the bus, I could not understand why ...Expand for more
because I lived most of my life in ca, where segregation was not heard of there. This was a whole new experience for me and my family. I really like playing with Jackie. I dont remember her last name. Wish and hoping someone out here will remember her and tell me about where she is now. My life now is good, I live in Salton City CA have many grown girls and recently adopted a boy when he was 3 he is 11 now. We own our construction company for the last 30 years now. If anyone has a 1960 graduating class pic from the elementary school please let me know. Thank you! Maybe some one will remember me?
