Sandra's Story
Life
My maiden name in school was Sandra (Sandie) Eaton. I have been married to my high school sweetheart (Rick Leader) for over 28 years now. Rick and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary in Feb. 2005, where we had a semi-formal ceremony and renewed our vows with a reception following. We have one daughter(Katie) who is now a graduate of Missouri State University. Katie and her Jr. High-High School Sweetheart(Jacob)of six years were married on Sept. 1st, 2007, and are now living in Abilene, Texas, where Jacob is furthering his CGP (Computer Graphics & Programming)degree in order to receive his Master's in CGP. Katie is working full-time and enjoying married life. I was diagnosed with acute renal failure in October of 2000, went on kidney dialysis three days a week in May of 2001, and I received a kidney transplant from a friend of ours at church in February of 2004. If you'd like, you can go to the National Kidney Foundations website and read my story titled "My Miracle" by Sandie Leader. I am now working part-time at our local WalMart Pharmacy. I was a Girl Scout Troop Leader until I went on dialysis and had to give that up. We moved from Barstow in 1998 and we love living in Missouri! We are active in our church and we have lots of fun being together as a family.
School
I'd have to say that one of my favorite teachers was Mr. Norman Wilmot. My senior year, I was a teac...Expand for more
her's assistant in his class and he was my teacher in previous years. I really enjoyed his class, and I have always enjoyed working with math and numbers. I also enjoyed Mrs. Potter and Mr. Allen as my business and shorthand teachers.
College
I attended Barstow Community College in night classes for about a year and a half.
Workplace
I worked at Security Pacific National Bank (currently Union Bank) for about 2 years. I worked at Fort Irwin in Civil Service for 3 months, at which time I transferred to the Marine Base where I worked in the Base Adjutants Office for a few months, in the Payroll Office for 4 years and in the Materiel Division Budget Office for 4 years. After our daughter was born I became a full-time wife and mother and worked part-time at Thompson Elementary School, part-time at the bank again and sold Avon part-time. I went to work part-time at Barstow Christian School as a teacher's aide when our daughter started 1st grade, and I continued selling Avon as well. In 1998, we moved to Missouri and since we've been here, I still sell Avon, I worked seasonally at a CPA's Office during tax season for two years, I worked for two years at our church's Christian Activity Center, filled in for our church's secretary a couple of times, and I am now working at our local WalMart Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.
Military
