Sandra's Story
I grew up in Regency Acres in Aurora where I attended school at St. Joseph's, attended Catholic High School for Grade 9 & 10 at St. Robert's in Markham and then Graduated from Aurora High School in 1982. I attended Seneca College at King College with a Diploma in Word Processing. My Grade 11 typing techer advised me to be a secretary. Although only 30 years ago, there were not a lot of options for women at that time.
In 1984 I started my banking career at Citibank in Toronto were I worked till 1989, I would then go on to work for National Bank for 10 years and now work for CIBC with President's Choice Financial. I had to go back to school at night and take correspondence to stay in banking.
In 1988 I married my boyfriend Al Holdsworth, who I met at 16. He too grew up in Aurora, ironically the street behind my parents house.

avenhurst, ON where my husband continues to work for Ontario Power Generation a job he has had for over 20 years.
I have been sick most of my adult life and was very lucky to receive a life saving transplant in February 1997 for my liver disease Primary sclerosing cholangitis. I have been very fortunate to have travelled around the world to participate in the Transplant Games for those with organ transplants and have a hugh extended family within the Transplant community. I am an advocate for Organ Donation and Transplantation and still suffer from Chrons disease.
My husband and I have no children, however have many children in our lives, that include our two neices and nephew and our godchildren.
Although, my life did not turn out exactly as I planned, I am thankful everyday for my life and thanks to my donor family for my second chance at life
