Sandra's Story
About Me! Sandra(Sandi) E. Montgomery
After graduating in 1960 I pretty much traveled the
northeast where I lived for 14 years. Moved to
Charleston SC in '85 and was here for hurricane HUGO. I worked for a company called Brookstone
for 13 years and retired in 2007.
I was married twice and divorced twice. Obviously,
marriage is not for me. I haven't any children and
have no regrets.
Healthwise, I have had angio-plastic, breast cancer
and right knee replacement. Believe it or not
I'm healthy as a horse. My angio-plasti was in 1987;
breast cancer in 2004(I'm now 4 years free and counting) and my knee replacement was in June
2007. Really its not as horrible as it sounds. I'm
alive and kicking.
I have a good life. I enjoy movies, tv, the beach, my cat MAYA(part ragdoll, part siamese), music,
the internet, crosswords, plants, doing all the things
I can now do that I couldn't do when working,
and last but now least spending quality time with
my friends
I would love to hear from Genie George, Gayle Hayes, Barbara Ellis, Ann Compton and anyone
from the Class of '60. I happened to see Charlres
Seiberling name listed with Classmates and
would get a kick out of hearing from him since he was
my senior prom date. Also I would like to know when
there will be a class reunion.
(This entry made May 23,2008--YAHOO!!!!)
Update: April 2 2011: I moved to Summerville Sc in June of 2010.
I have a small house with tons of trees...3 camelia trees, a 40 ft holly tree, a fig tree, dogwood tree(2) Japanese magnolia, bottle brush tree, pear tree and persimmon. Needless to say my back yard is a fusion of c...Expand for more
olor. I am presently creating an English garden around my dogwood trees and boy is it a job. I have hanging plants everywhere. Plants are my weakness. I have all types of birds in my yard and have 4 birdhouses,5 hummingbird
feeders and 8 birdfeeders. I also feed the squirrels corn.
The only bad thing in my life is losing my Mother January 22, 2011. I spent Christmas with her and am thankful we
had that time together, She waa 88 and I'm thankful she doesn't have to suffer anymore. I spent 2 weeks in
Florida after her passing taking care of an estate sale, the will and getting a real estate agent. Bless her heart
I think she saved every piece of paper for at least 10 years. Cherish your parents my friends because they won't be around forever.
I hope to hear from my friend from the Class of "60 and I will definitely see you in 2012 at the next reunion.
Update March 8, 2012: After I posted that my Mom had passed away in Jan.2011 I had another shock on April 3. My
stepfather suddenly passed away. He had raised me since I was 9 and although we started off on thin ice over
the years, even though he and Mom had divorced, we grew very close. We stayed in touch and he was always there when he was needed. He helped me through many low spots in my life and when he passed I really lost my best friend. 2011 was not a great year in my life and I learned that you have to greet each day with smile and make
the most of it. All of us who graduated in '60 will be hitting the big 70 this year, so stay close because our friends and family are what matter most.
See you at the reunion this year 2012.
