Sandra's Story
Life
My life after high school seemed pretty basic until I actually tried to write everything down. After 1 semester at Maple Woods Community College I got married to Fred Fleming. We were married for 12 years before our divorce. We had one daughter. I was working for CNA Insurance at the time and met and married Tom Beyer and moved to Chicago, IL. We lived in Park Ridge, IL for 9 years with our blended family of 3 daughters. A transfer to Washington DC moved our family to the Maryland suburbs just outside DC. We've lived here since 1989. The 3 daughters graduated from high school here in Maryland, one daughter went to Augustana College in Rock Island, IL and one daughter went to Roanoke College in Virginia. lly, age 16, in 1992 and after 2 trips to Bulgaria the adoption of daughter #5 Maggy, age 11. In a nutshell, life is constantly changing here. Two years ago my husband decided the corporate world was not a place he wanted to be. This after his company's Home Office was destroyed in the 9-11 tragedy had a huge effect on his decision. We are now adjusting to life in the slow lane - Tom is pursuing his Master's in Special Education and teaching at a local high school and we're raising the rest of our family in a slower, more grounded atmosphere. We moved to Stephens City, Virginia in 2003 where my husband is a high school math teacher. I am the classroom aide for a blind child in the second grade at an elementary school very close to home. Our life has slowed down a great deal and we're enjoying every minute of it. Anybody in Virginia or Maryland or West Virginia?
