Sandra's Story
Life
After high school I returned to Utah where I went to Business School in Salt Lake City. After graduation I went to work for Sears in the Purchasing Department.
After a couple of years I returned to Fort Worth where I worked at various companies until 1970 when I married Barry Gough (from our class). I continued working while raising two wonderful boys, Michael and Timothy. Barry and I divorced in 1990.
In 1999 I retired from the City of Fort Worth where I had worked for 27 years as an Administrative Assistant and then continued working there part time for another 5 years.
In 2000 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and had to have surgery. After chemo and radiation I won that battle.
Since 2005 I have been staying home to care for my elderly mother and a young grandson who lives with me. Mother passed away this fall and time in now on my hands. I might try returning to work on a part-time basis.
Between my four grandchildren and two step grandchildren I stay busy playing chauffeur and sitter.
I love to travel and have taken several cruises. I've been to the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii and the Mediterranean. Next year I'm planning t...Expand for more
o cruise England, Scotland and Ireland.
In addition I've taken my grandkids and daughter-in-law on several road trips. In 2006 we went to see Pikes Peak, Dinosauer National Mounument, Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore. We drove over 3800 miles in 11 days.Quite a journey when you consider two of the boys have ADHD and my granddaughter thinks she's in training to be an animal trainer. My daughter-in-law had never driven in the mountains so it was something new for her too. Next summer we are planning a road trip out West to the Grand Canyon.
My favorite hobbies are photography and working on family history. I've spent the past year working on a video family history of my mother's family. I finally completed the project this past October. Quite a job but I encountered several lost branches of our family tree and reconnected with lost cousins. Time well spent. My next prjoect is working on my dad's family tree. A lot of information was lost when they came to this country from Germany in the 1800's. Maybe someday I can journey there and do some research.
Well, that's my life so far....just waiting for the next chapter.
