Lynda's Story
Life
It was hard moving away from grandchildren. Retirement, that was quite a motivator as well, lol. Though hard to consider myself retired. I'm a Trained Volunteer Defensive Driving Instructor for the AARP, I bake all my own bread, do a lot of canning when the garden starts producing, knit and crochet hats, scarves and mittens for local elementary school to keep on hand for needy children in cold weather.
Since my best friends moved to AR the end of March first of April, all I want to do is move there too!!
School
The teacher that inspired me most was Mr. Hyde. I wound up taking his pre-journalism course to fill and English class requirement. It was the best course I ever took. He also gave me great introspective with all the "real" comments he made in class.
Workplace
In October 2006 took a job at the local Police Dept. as a dispatcher. I worked there until March 2007 when a personality conflict and scheduling problems became too much. I went back to subbing at the local schools. I was offered the opportunity to teach an Art Class for the last 7 weeks of school for middle and high school students. e students. My high school students painted a mural on a sheet, (had to be creative) which I am going to post in my pictures. Looking forward to new school year. School will be starting in 2 weeks on 15 August 2007. I've been seeing a lot of my kids at the municipal swimming pool this summer. (Wayne and I have been maintaining the water balance)
August 2011, after subbing for several years I finally took full time job as an aide to special ed., I also got certified as a Paraprofessional. Now in my second year, can't tell you how rewarding my job is.
August 2013, still working as a Paraprofessional, but changed school districts and I really love where I'm at! I'm now working at a high school. Job is just amazing! The people I work with are really wonderful, especially my immediate supervisor.
2014 almost August, getting ready to head back to school. Staying put, love this district! I've been working to get the classroom set up. I've got my craft schedule set for the year. Students don't show up until the 14th but my first class is the 6th and 7th in restraint. I do hope a lot of teachers take the class, I'd hate to think they will be depending on me to restrain students. :-/ lol
