Sandra's Story
Having retired from teaching in the year 2000, I was then able to pursue my lifelong passion for theater. Throughout my adult life, I had performed with many different companies. With my Mondays through Fridays unavailable because of my "day job", though, I was limited as to what I could do. I bounce back and forth between acting and directing. In recent years, I have worked a lot with Newport Playhouse, and I have just begun an affiliation with Arctic Playhouse. There, I will be directing "The Dining Room" and "On Golden Pond" this year. Some favorite roles are Kate in "Brighton Beach Memoirs", Florence Unger in "The Female Odd Couple", and Brenda in "Smokey Joe's Cafe". In April, I sang and danced my way through "Catch Me If You Can" with a Providence group. The other women in the ensemble ranged in age from about 18 through 25 years of age. So...Expand for more
cially, I felt a little out of my element, but I was so pleased to be able to hold my own with these kids! Two years ago, I had the thrill of performing on a (tiny) New York stage, when I took part in the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. When I am not involved in a theater project, my husband Lon Cerel and I love to travel. Favorite destinations are Florida and Pasadena, where my son Peter Boyer resides. Peter is a grammy-nominated composer and conductor. He has orchestrated for many significant films. I live in Johnston, RI. My 88 year old mom and 89 year old dad live a couple of miles away. I am so blessed that they are still in my life.
