Sandra's Story
50 years in a nutshell??
I married Buddy Bruce in 1961. He was in the Air Force at the time and we moved around quite a bit. We settled back in Leesburg and had our 1st child, Tami Lyn (1965). We had more moves with Buddy's work and finally transferred to Titusville in 1967 where our son, Ted was born. We have stayed in Titusville in the same house for all these years. I went to college when my youngest started kindergarten and earned a degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. I spent over 30 years in the medical field working at Kennedy Space Center (Occupational Health) and Parrish Medical Center. Although I worked in many areas of the lab, my primary focus was Microbiology. I retired from PMC in 2006. My life has been full and happy with family and work. We spent many years raising children - and following their athletic and academic activities. We have one grandon, Dylan who is 15 and now we have added musical activities to our age...Expand for more
nda. Buddy and I had a fantasy about what our retirement would be - leisure time to do as we wish with no schedules. We have found that retirement can be hard work and we still have to consider our schedules closely so that we can fit in the things we enjoy (travel, reading, photography, golf for Buddy, visiting with friends & family). I share the caretaking of my father (98 years old) with my 3 sisters. This means that we spend 2 or more days a week in Leesburg. Thankfully we are both healthy with no major issues even though there seems to be too many doctor appointments to consider.
We enjoyed Buddy's 50th Class Reunion last year and are looking forward to my 50th this year. I have enjoyed working with the committee on this reunion. It has been great hearing from so many classmates as I worked on the directory. I think that this will be a great opportunity to renew old friendships and am looking forward to seeing many of you there.
