Life
My great job takes me to California so often that I live part time in Long Beach and the rest of the time south of Seattle, Washington. My life has taken some surprise turns, but there always seems to be good things around the corner. I am lucky to have two wonderful girls 20 and 25......and only two more years to pay college for the younger one. Retirement? I can't imagine not working. I have been in my current job for 37 years and look forward to having a second career when I decide to leave Northwest Airlines. Time spent on the road in my red Miata with the top down is a incredibly renewing.
Workplace
Don't get even.....get ahead! I work for a company that declared bankruptcy last fall......so far the concession package I have had ...Expand for more
thrust upon me is 40% off my career pay and benefits. While the executives have taken a benevolent 5% cut........Soooo, it's been back to school for me. I will graduate with a nursing degree on August 30, and (blush) I am graduating at the top of my class. I know Northwest Airlines will pull out of this slump, but I also know it will take more than 5 years to get back the lost benefits. In the mean time I have a second career that pays well and can be done on a part time basis.....and continue into retirement to pay for those little extras.....Don't get even....make em jealous. They will always be stuck in the executive rat race while offers for my nursing services are pouring in.....and I haven't even graduated or taken the certification exam yet!!!!
