Sandy's Story

Life A rollercoaster ride into oblivion! Long gone is the shy, quiet, people pleaser and now stands a strong, happy, free-willed spirit! 2008 What a horrible year!!! It started off pretty nice, we celebrated my little Bears first birthday on April 2nd. The morning was beautiful, got the tents up, decorations done, kickballs ready for a mean game of family kickball, everyone started showing up...and then....the sky opened and the rain fell like crazy!!!! It hadn't rained in MONTHS!!! So, needless to say...everyone was drenched, kids covered in mud, old people huddled as close as they could get inside the tents....Comically, everyone said that they had the greatest fun (yeah, right!). From there, my year just kept on sinking into the black abyss..... My husband got very sick, he started to swell up all over and could barely move. The doctors tested and tested, first for heart failure and then for auto-immune disease. For those who don't know, NO it is not something like AIDS (where you get a virus and it attacks your body) ~ it is more like Lupus (where as, it isn't a virus ~ it is his body attacking his body). We are currently testing to find out more and the doctors are "treating" him with water pills and steroids to keep the swelling down. As if I needed any more bad news, my father was diagonosed with squamous cell carcinoma, which is skin cancer, but it has caused tumors to form on and in his throat. They could not find a primary source of the cancer last year and the tumors grew so large that they started to "weep" out of his skin. They had no choice but to start chemo this year (Jan 09). Doctors decided to try a new drug on him called, Erbitux. It is what is used on cancer patients when chemo does not work anymore. He had a feeding tube inserted into his stomach to provide nourishment for when the radiation sores starts to set in....His first dose of chemo was a double dose and from everything we read, we feared the worst - vomiting, weight loss, all the down hill stuff...BUT 2009 had another plan: The day following his first treatment, the searing pain in his jaw stopped and he started eating like a starved horse! Not once did he get sick! His mood improved and he is ready to start radiation! 2009 I have decided to put all my fears, troubles & pains on a silver platter and give them to the Lord. I have realized that I can't fix everything....and that He has told me,"Are you done...Expand for more
??? Are you ready to trust in Me and let me fix things?" And my answer is, "Yes, sir!" So, so far: Dad is doing really good, my finances are starting to look better, I still have my job, a healthy son who will be turning two and I have faith that my husband will soon be healed.... I pray that all of you and your family are doing well also. If anyone would like to talk, maybe rekindle old friendships ~ feel free to contact me. I am open to new friends and I do not hold grudges on old friends.... You can catch me here or on myspace ~ just look up Sandy Kroslack! I love you all and wish you all the very best! Sandy ************************************* Questions from the survey: Any regrets? Sure, plenty. But why waste my time dwelling on them! Lessons learned: don't kiss up - no one is worth it, enjoy life and be happy with what you got. In given time, you will realize how good you actually have it! Raising Children: Watch them and love them. Enjoy every precious second you have with them..... And don't let them turn into bullies who call sweet little girls "Ugly, freckle face" or snobs who like to snicker at others because they aren't wearing the newest shoes or fashions.......Life is too short, there are more important things out there.... School Hmmm, biggest crush? Which year! I had two that I think of fondly, but a crush is just what it sounds like - crush! Inspiring teacher? That would be Amy Miller (now married to Mr. Peters). My drama teacher and friend. She believed in me and pushed me when I needed it! Do it over again? Of course! I wouldn't change what I did, I would just add to it. Be myself more, instead of what people wanted me to be. Memories...... Douglas - with our dancing and cartoons. Sarah - my drama buddy. Kristen - my best friend. India in Phils class....Too many things to list............. Workplace After many years in banking (and after too many robberies), I left the bank to work for Viper. Our company erects cellular phone towers. I am surrounded by towerhands who has helped me grow a backbone and who has taught me some very creative words (in which I would never say in front of mom!). I am the office manager/administrative assistant and love what I do. I now have my own secretary and it is wonderful having another female in the office!!! I have been with the company for over 10 years and I look forward to retiring with this company!
