Sandy's Story

Life Hello everyone. I don't know where to begin really. I suppose I should just pick up from our 10th reunion. At that time I was a divorced mother with three children. I remarried..to the man I was dating at that time...in 1993. We are still married and own a home in Leadwood, Missouri. But we now have four children. Joel, my son, will be 22 in July. He is in his third year of culinary school.....Johnson & Wales in Providence, Rhode Island. I am very proud of him. My oldest daughter, Jessica, will be 18 in June. She will be graduating H.S. this May 2006. She is planning to do her pre-reqs at the junior college near our home, then transfer to Life University in Atlanta, Georgia to become a Chiropractor. But she has a boyfriend who is very distracting.....so we'll see how that goes. :) My middle daughter, Marisa, just turned 15 this December. She is a freshman in H.S. She auditioned, and made, the Concert Choir. She almost made the Honor's Choir. For a freshman, this is an honor for sure! She will be going to music contest soon. How well I remember. :) She is also playing basketball for her second season. She is on the JV team; and doesn't get much play time yet. But she is just beginning to blossom. She has had three knee surgeries already. Marisa is also a competitive dancer. So she keeps us VERY busy!!! My youngest daughter, Samantha, will be 11 in May. She is in fourth grade. She has a mild autistic disorder called "Asperger's Syndrome". She is very smart, and makes us laugh everyday. She worked very hard this year to tryout, and make, the elementary Jump Rope Team. This was MUCH hard work for her. We are so proud of all of the kids. They have accomplished many wonderful things. About me? I am a stay-at-home mom who has started a new career, as of May 2005. I am the Regional Advisor for International ...Expand for more
Student Exchange in the state of Missouri. I find homes for, and place, exchange students. I also train and supervise Area Reps to do the same. I absolutely love what I am doing; and could not imagine doing anything else after this. We hosted a student for the first time last school year. It was the best experience our family has ever shared. In my spare time, which there isn't much of, I like to do several types of crafts. I do this mostly for relaxation, and as gifts for people I love. I also like to browse antique shops, go to flea markets, etc. I collect a few things. I also like to read a good book when I have a chance. My husband, Michael, is an ironworker. No, he doesn't work in the mines. He puts up structural steel for buildings. I believe the tallest building he has worked on so far was 44 stories. He LOVES his work....it's a family thing. Most of the McCoys are ironworkers. He has been doing it for about 27 years now. I, however, am TERRIFIED of heights. He has tried to get me to go to jobs "just to look".....NO WAY!!! :) Our family is pretty ordinary, I guess. We do all the ordinary stuff. We have two dogs, two cats inside, two cats outside......and a pet cemetery in the backyard! Yes, really. My youngest has a hard time saying goodbye. So....... I'd like to think I have offered my children things, and opportunities, that I didn't have as a child or teen. Sometimes they don't see it that way.:) Life was hard for us until I met Michael McCoy. I know that he was sent by God; and I am truly thankful for him EVERYDAY. I would really love to hear from anyone who would like to communicate.....email first, I suppose. I have MANY fond memories of Fair Grove High School. Until I met Michael, it was the best time of my life. I missed the 20th reunion, but I am hopeful that there will be a 25th. GOD BLESS!
