Sandy's Story
Life
I am happily married, going on 21 years, to my best friend Jim Sternod. When we met Jim's daughter was 14 and his son was 11. They are both grown now and we have 3 grandchildren, with one on the way.
My primary passion is snowmobiling, thanks to Jim. From December to April we go riding every weekend we can. Generally we ride close to 2,000 miles a winter primarily in the back country and hill climbing between Crystal Springs (Stampede Pass) east of Snoqualmie Pass and Greenwater (Crystal Mountain/Naches area). Other favorite areas are Mt. St. Helen's and Mt. Baker; as well as NW Wyoming.
This passion carries over to donating a considerable amount of time to the Washington State Snowmobile Association and Washington State Parks as committee chair and advisory committee member to promote and maintain snowmobiling access in Washington State.
During the rest of the year I enjoy camping and hiking, gardening and summer barbeques. We live on two acres and have a great area for big barbeques with a lot of privacy. roperty. It is always a constant source of amazement and entertainment.
Workplace
After high school, I worked for over 7 years with a local yellow page publisher full time while going to Highline Community College at night. From there I worked briefly in Property Management for a local real estate company, and as a Credit Manager for a large plumbing company. During that time I also was involved with a Women's Networking organization, where I became the Director.
While working at Broadmoor Plumbing in Seattle I met my husband Jim. After deciding that Credit Manager was not my idea of a fun time, I left to join Speedy Glass and have been with Speedy for 21 years as of March 2007. I started as the Executive Assistant to the President looking after 120 retail locations and 25 distribution centers. During the past 21 years I have gone from Franchise Compliance, to Safety & Health Specialist, and am now the Human Resource Manager for 350 employees.
In my spare time I handle bookkeeping and payroll activities for Jim's plumbing and heating business. Jim has been in the trade for over 35 years, and has had his own company for the last 16 years
