Sara's Story
Hi all you class of '72 Hilltop graduates. Seems hard to believe we will be experiencing our 40th in less than a year.p I have hoped to attend each reunion, but life has dictated otherwise.
University of Oregon was good (and bad) to me. I received my BS and MS in education there and met the love of my life, Ian. On the other hand as many of you may know I suffered the loss of my sister while there (she would have graduated in the Hilltop class of '74.).
I have had the delight (with my husband of 38 years) of raising 3 wonderful kids. 2 boys and 1 girl. Our youngest -- daughter -- lives and teaches in the Seattle area. Our middle son and his wife have just moved to Montana. and our oldest son and his wife live in Spokane. --Thank goodness one of them is still in town. We are blessed with 6 grandchildren.
I am now retired (not by choice, but by medical necessity -- many difficulties including ...Expand for more
now being legally blind -- yet feel extremely blessed) from 20 years of teaching. I was fortunate enough to teach all levels from preschool through adult, but my favorite and final teaching was middle school advanced math (no surprises there for those who remember me). My wonderful husband (who is also my bestest friend is a middle school p.e. teacher from Australia (met at the UofO).
Travel has continued to be a significant part of my life. We have been to Britain, Australia (4 years of living, as well as many visitations to see family,) Fiji and many of the USA states.
I feel very fortunate -- many fond memories and very few regrets.
We are now ready to start the next new faze of our life. The only thing I wish would happen is to have more contact with those from my past; preferably while can still almost see them. I am sure they have many unique and fascinating life experiences to share.
