Sarah's Story
Life
I graduated from Northern Arizona University in December of 2003. I got married to Jason on March 20, 2004 and I couldn't be happier. I recently finished my first year of teaching in the Pendergast District and am now in the Peoria District. I've just started working on my secondary certification to teach high school band.
School
Mr. Preston was the teacher who inspired me the most. He had a way of gaining your trust but still being a great teacher. He always encouraged me to keep my head up and to not sweat the small stuff. I hope that I can inspire kids the way he has inspired me in life and in my job.
College
College rocked! There are times when I wish I could be in college forever! So many awesome classes to take. Of course, I could only have a roommate if it were one of three people who shall remain nameless. I enjoyed having roommates in college. It taught me about how to get along with others and it taught me a lot about myself that I didn't know.
South dining had the most awesome food. Their philly cheese steaks were good. Chocolate milk to wash it down....Expand for more
Workplace
Well, I've done a wide variety of jobs. I've worked as a shift manager at Taco Bell. I really liked to the people I worked with, especially my mom. It was a great job, but I didn't want to do that while I was in school. So, I worked at Parking Services. Yes, I was a parking nazi, as they called us. I was a clerk at the front desk. That was quite my job. It was relaxing and didn't have to take work home with me. Now, I'm a teacher. Talk about stress!! It's fun, though. I love teaching things to kids in fun ways. In my room, it looks like complete chaos, but it is absolutely under control. And the kids love it!!!! That's what it's all about.
Military
I wasn't in the military, but my dad was while we were growing up. We lived in England for six years. I have some very fond memories of England. I was heart-broken when I found out we were moving. I had made some good friends, had a good home environment on base, went to a great school with great teachers and I felt like I belonged. It was a difficult transition when we moved, but I will never forget any of it.
