Scott's Story

Hey all! Anna Barka asked me to put something down so here goes. I used some of the suggestions from the wizard on the site. I am not creative enough to come up with my own stuff. Wildest thing we ever did in high school? The night before graduation we (Paul Fornelli, Kirk Long, and others (okay, if you were there own up and volunteer your name), got drunk, swam in the pool, ran around the school, and spent the night on the football field. They were just building the big mound for the bleacher seats. We were out there drinking beer, and we walked over the mound, and saw the chairs set up for graduation. We knocked them all down...yeah I feel bad, but hey we were 18 yrs. old. BTW, I think they blamed the whole thing on the juniors, so that was worth it. Job history...most of you will remember me as the stupid guy who worked at McDonald's, I know it looked bad, but it was a decent job. I cannot even write all the things we did there. Boy did we party there after the place closed. Then if we got the "munchies" we would crank up the kitchen and instant burgers & fries. Partying inside a McDonald's really cut down on the travel time to get food. I also worked at the Roseville Auction and the Roller-skating rink. I then went to work at the Peppermill in Citrus Heights for about a year. Then I was an assistant manager for Marshall's (yeah the cheap clothing store). They moved me to Reno!? WTF, I am a born and bred CA guy and they send me to Reno! I was there for two winters; we called it the frozen tundra. I turned 21 while there. That was cool. Finally I got tired of Reno, so ...Expand for more
I quit them and moved back to Roseville. While there, I visited Sierra College to see some of my old professors, and I noticed that they were having interviews for Retail Management. It finally hit me then that that's what I do. So I interviewed and got a job with the worldwide respected company of Thrifty Drug Stores (hold applause). The job stunk but I stayed there 10 years. How I held out that long I have no idea. The good news about Thrifty was I met my wife there. Finally we came to our senses and left. We went to OSH. I worked there for about 10 years (my wife still works there). I left and now I am in sales. I sell to OSH. Best job I ever had. Lots of time off and the pay is great. I am worried that one day they will find out how much they pay me for part time work. I never thought I would end up doing this, but it's very cool. I now live in Newark CA in the bay area. Guilty pleasures...I'm a sucker for some of the reality shows. Some of them are just too stupid. But I like Survivor and American Idol. My wife likes the dancing shows so I have to watch it for her (not that I like them). My wife and I like to travel. We have been all over Mexico, all over Hawaii, Canada, and on lots of cruises. We want to go to Europe one of these days. Teachers I would like to see again-I would love to see Mr. Hicks and Mr. Pelligreeni (is that right). If I could do something over again, I would buy Apple, Intel, Wal-Mart, and Microsoft when they came out. If I think of anything else I will update this. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. Scott Achstein
