Scott's Story

Worked for my Grandfather building a house for our family in 1960 between Catherine Blaine and QA I got hooked on the building trades/business. After not taking high school very seriously, did 6 month military reserve program, went to community college, then CWSC and back east for an MBA. Moved to Portland in '75, worked for a couple of regional builders as Superintendent and did some sales, started my company in '80 and ended up specializing in medical/dental construction. Building some homes now in a subdivision we developed and am amazed at the advances in building science - residential construction has actually gotten technically interesting. Married Pat in '68 - my motives were good, but on top of that I was extremely lucky, I can't imagine a better partner. She went back to school when the kids were in high school and is a Marriage & Family Therapist, enjoying private practice (not a bad skill set to have being married to me, I guess). Son & daughter, like me, took their time getting through school - both married to ...Expand for more
people we like. Son trained as auto mechanic, then completed college, worked a while as a police officer in Portland and is now back in school to become a counselor. Daughter completed college and has worked for a number of non-profits, working quite a bit with under age sex-trafficked youth - now managing an organization that houses and helps unmarried mothers get on track to take good care of themselves and their babies. Pat & I are really proud of them. I'm enjoying work and family (all in Portland). Also enjoy shooting, working on my old boat, misc. projects in the shop and fishing. My profile photo is from a few years ago - my daughter and I were fishing with Tom Berg on his boat in the Portland Harbor. Portland doesn't have water to compare with Seattle, but I like the weather a lot better and it's pretty cool being able to catch Salmon right in downtown. I'm definitely looking forward to being a lot more retired and being busy with what I want to do, but aside from being a little too busy, I really can't complain.
