Scott's Story
Life
Retired after 21 years flying with the Marine Corps. Glenview is so different now but then so is everything in life. Living back in Chicago far west suburb of Batavia. Still flying for a living but retirement is out there calling. Great memories from school and college at Champaign, love to hear from anyone.
College
University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana 78-83. Liberal Arts and Science with a major in History. Lived at Armory House for two years and then went out with buddies to live in apartment and houses (The Pit and Izit Inn) for the rest of school career. Great times and fun with great friends. Number one daughter of to Notre Dame this fall, number two a sophomore in HS.
Military
Commissioned Marine 2ndLt in May 83 from Univ of Illiniois NROTC. Echo Company 83 at The Basic School then to Pensacola for Flight School. Designated...Expand for more
helicopter pilot and served with HMLA 369 Gunfighters at Camp Pendleton CA from Jul 85 to Jun 90. Three years as a T-34 instructor pilot at VT-2 at Whiting Field, Pensacola. Then stuck a pencil in my eye and took a staff job at Headquarters Marine Corps in the Aviation Department. Escaped Washington DC in Apr 96 to serve 2 1/2 years on the USS Wasp (LHD-1) as the Air Operations Officer with deployment to Bosnia and Kosovo in spring 98. Summer of 98 returned to Camp Pendleton to serve with HMLA 367 Scarface and HMM 262 Flying Tigers on the USS Essex. Finished up career flying UC-35 Citation jets at Miramar from summer 2000 until retired in Mar 2004. Flying EMS helo and doing contract work for military aviation field.
Back in Chicagoland since 2009, flying corporate jets, looking forward to complete retirement and traveling whenever and wherever.
