Scott's Story
Life
Well after I graduated from High School, I bounced around from job to job until 1991 when I ended up in the Service Station Equipment and Construction Business. That is where I met Michelle. She was my Texaco Representative.
In 1999 after 15 years in the Sea Cadets, I followed a life long dream and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at 31. I am an Aviation Structural Mechanic (Safety Equipment) (AME1) now. I finished three years of shore duty at VS-41 and then headed to Sea Duty with VS-38. While at VS-38 I deployed aboard USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64) and participated in operations, ENDURING FREEDOM, SOUTHERN WATCH, and IRAQI FREEDOM. I then transferred to VS-35 and deployed on the USS JOHN C STENNIS in the Spring of 2004. All three squadrons are here in San Diego.
Michelle, the kids and I moved to Maine in the Spring of 2005. I deployed twice with VP-26 once to Italy and once to Qatar. We moved back to San Diego in 2008 for a shore tour at VMFAT-101 at MCAS Miramar. After three years at Miramar, I transferred to VRC-30 at NAS North Island.
I joined the Navy to see the world. They stationed me for all but three years in my home town. Go figure.
Michelle and I have two wonderful sons, Trevor, 15 and Tyler, 11.
School
High School was kind of a weird place for me. Most of my friends went to other schools.
Compared to how life is today though, I would gladly go back to the ease of high school.
College
Well I took three classes at Grossmont College in 1988. Failed all of them.
Went back to school at City College in 2000 and finished up six unit.
Because I am deployable now, I attend Grantham University through the Navy College program. I received my Associates in Business in 2006 and my Bachelors in 2009 and my MBA in 2012.

Worked a variety of odd jobs after leaving High School.
I was a Process Server, Security Guard, Pizza Delivery Guy, and an Office Clerk.
I got into the Petroleum Equipment Business at Western Pump, Inc. in 1991 and worked there until 1996 when Balcrank hired me to be their District Sales Manager. I was there until 1997. Went to work for Shaw & Little, Inc. in San Diego. I was there until I joined the Navy in 1999.
Military
I enlisted in the Navy as an AMEAN/E3 in May 1999, and attended Recruit Training at RTC Great Lakes, IL. I finished first in my Division (99-254).
I completed AME "A" School at NATTC Pensacola in October 1999. Finishing first in my class (99-300) and was selected for AME3/E4.
My first duty station was Sea Control Squadron FORTY-ONE (VS-41) at NAS North Island. Three Years of Shore Duty. I was selected for AME2/E5 in September of 2000.
I transferred to Sea Control Squadron THIRTY-EIGHT (VS-38) in October of 2002, also at NAS North Island, and immediately deployed aboard USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64). We participated in Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, SOUTHERN WATCH, and IRAQI FREEDOM. I was selected for promotion to AME1/E6 in November 2003.
Then transferred to Sea Control Squadron THIRTY-FIVE, still at NAS North Island, and deployed aboard USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN 74) in May 2004.
I transferred to Patrol Squadron 26 (VP-26) in April 2005 at NAS Brunswick, Maine. Deploying twice, once to NAS Sigonella Italy for OPERATION ACTIVE ENDEAVOR and once to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar for OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. I left there in July of 2008.
Headed back to San Diego for three years of shore duty at VMFAT-101 at MCAS Miramar. and then transferred to NAS North Island with the Providers of VRC-30 for another Sea Tour.
