Scott's Story
Life
UPDATE: I can't read messages on this site - If you want to contact me: speakerman-at-rocketmail-dot-com. Currently, I'm an Avionics Engineer at ECS (Electronic Cable Specialists) in Franklin, WI. I started in July of '04.
I continue to build custom loudspeakers for people, and have started dabbling in the design and modification of audio electronics (as a side business). I have been attending and participating in some loudspeaker design competitions for the last few years, which has finally made my name a bit more known among the community. In college, I started a business with my cousin (Chad) in which we build and design computer systems. Chad has since moved on and taken it into a full-fledged consulting firm.
I graduated from MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering) in May of '02 with a BSEE (Bachelors in Electrical Engineering) and an earned (but un-recognized) minor in Physics. While my true passion is audio electronics and speakers, I have been unable to find a job in the industry, with the exception of my internship at Koss Corporation from '00-'02. After graduating, I continued my part-time job at the Oconomowoc Lake Club as waiter and valet in order to pay the bills due to the terrible job market at the time.
In October of '02, I started as an electrical engineer for Telefonix, Inc. in Waukegan, IL. Yes, I commuted - 90 miles (from Oconomowoc) each way. Ridiculous? Yes. I met some great people and had several great travel opportunities (New York, Virginia, California, and Germany). They manufacture retractable cord-reels, and I was there to serve as their first form of electrical design and support. New projects called for a background in electronics, and I was hired to provide a new level of electrical expertise for the engineering department. The commute and and a few other issues were encouragement to look elsewhere.
A friend of mine from MSOE was/is working at ECS and informed ...Expand for more
me that they were looking for some more help. ECS basically designs electronics integration and wiring kits for retrofitting new computers onto airplanes. Our customers previously consisted mostly of commercial airlines. Now, we have moved on to being an OEM provider for both Airbus and Boeing. ECS also has a mechanical design team that designs shelves/brackets and other mechanical items for performing modifications to aircraft.
At ECS I have had some great opportunities... travel to England, France, German, California, Vancouver... and more to come. I've become specialized in the IFE (In-Flight-Entertainment) sector. It's the movies, music, internet access, games, etc that passengers enjoy on long flights. I've had the opportunitiy to work on some incredible projects, most recently being the main equipment rack for the new Boeing 787 plane.
In 2000, my parents divorced. 2003 was a rough year; in September my sister and I lost our father. He died due to an enlarged heart. His death was extremely unexpected. We are thankful for the wonderful man that he was, and for leading us both to Christ. Then, just six weeks later, we lost my grandmother (Rosenow) to cancer and Parkinson's disease. Pappy (grandpa Rosenow) just passed away in March of '07. It was a quick heart attack in his sleep. We're all so thankful that it was quick for him, as being layed up in bed would have destroyed his spirits.
I'm living out on the family farm in the old farmhouse. Cousin Chad was previously my roommate, but has since bought a house.
My love life is still in flux. Throughout college I dated periodically, nothing significantly serious. I was in a relationship with a friend from college for a few years, but in January we both finally decided to move on, knowing we weren't right for each other. Since, I've carefully been trying to determine what I really want in a woman... and have begun that search.
