Scott's Story

Wow! How do you catch up the last 45 years in a couple of paragraphs? I guess the best way is to just start at the beginning... I graduated from California High in 1981. My claim to fame was my high school sweetheart - Donna McCulley, my job working at Wells Fargo Bank, my friends Tom S, Mike F, and Mike F. We skated at Golden Skate, drove the VW up to Boreal to ski, camped in the mountains above Santa Cruz, and took the SES Phoenix to a couple of Clipper awards. I did some stupid things and alienated Tom S, and haven't heard from any of them in a long time. After serving a mission for my church in Hong Kong, I joined the military, where I met my next group of friends, Dave E, Atch, and Tim B. We had some good times on the beach at Daytona Beach, and practically lived at the knee-ski lake at Wet-n-Wild. But the military has a way of transferring people away, and we moved up to Idaho for our next training school. Push came to shove, and we all got married. (Not to each other - that's so wrong!) Funny how marriage ends so many friendships! Dave and Atch are in Idaho, Tim went to New York instead, got divorced and I don't know where he is. We still exchange Christmas cards. I was a nuke electrician in the Navy, and got out as a Chief after 11 years. I went into the Coast Guard Reserves to finish off my 20 years, ...Expand for more
and retired from the military in 2008! After getting out of the Navy, I worked for a chemical plant for a year or so, then a civilian nuclear power plant in Texas for a couple more years, and finally moved to Seattle to work for Seattle City Light. I married my girlfriend Kimala(and lost the rest of my friends) in 1987, and we have two children - Leanna and Casey. I've always wanted to fly, and I finally got my Private Pilot License in 2002. I built an experimental homebuilt airplane, which I still own and fly regularly. It's not very fast, and not good for cross country flights, but it's good for getting low over a river and following the twists and turns up into the mountains, or taking a flight out to the San Juan islands for an afternoon of shopping and lunch with my wife. I am now building a second airplane, which is fully aerobatic and faaassssttt! I plan to do some travelling in it! Looking back on the past 25 years since I graduated from high school, there are things that I've done that I really regret, but for the most part I'm happy with my life. Good wife, good family, I even got a new set of friends after I got married (Brian C, Todd C, Evan M, Robin R, Ken N, Josh B, Jeremy A, Frank M, and the list goes on...) Anyways, feel free to contact me at my email address. It's dakota_hawk at att dot net.
