Scott's Story
Graduated Western Washington University (WWSC then) in '69 and joined the Air Force. Try a lottery number of 4 and you would understand why. Married a beautiful young woman, Diane Lounsberry, who has stood beside me for 43 years. Did two tours in Vietnam/Thailand, actually two very beautiful countries caught up in a terrible war; managed to survive. During my Air Force career, was in on the planning for the Iran Hostage rescue (our part went well, unfortunately some other parts didn't work out); developed and implemented a completely new way for the Strategic Air Command (SAC) to accomplish aircraft maintenance; helped plan Grenada rescue, Panama invasion and Noriega abduction, and the logistical support plan for the first Iraqi war; flew for 17 years as a pilot, Instructor Pilot; served as commander of a 450 person squadron for 27 months (one of the best tours I ever had); met many amazing people from all over the world, traveled to some amazing countries both East and West; had two of the most incredible children who have provided us with five...Expand for more
wonderful grandchildren. Moved 11 times in 23 1/2 years and saw some remote and wonderful places in this country. Retired from the Air Force in 1993, and went into the hospitality business in Sales and Marketing Analysis. Have traveled the US and Europe extensively. Left the corporate rat race in 2007 and started my own little business in 2008. Enjoying children and grandchildren immensely, as well as semi-retirement (tho' seems I'm working harder than I have in years-but I come home with a smile on my little mug and that's a good thing). Life has been very good to us and we have been lucky enough to have been able to enjoy it in good health. As we slow our work world involvement, we will be increasing the extent of our travels. The world is an amazing place, filled with strange and wonderful places and people. I have many wonderful memories of laughs and loves in Bellingham and the many other places throughout the world where I have lived and visited. Life, no doubt, is truly an adventure. You just have to reach out and grab it with gusto.
