Scott's Story
Life
I am still active duty in the Air Force and have just recently returned from a deployment to Afghanistan...my second such visit. I am presently stationed in the United Kingdom and live approximately 12 miles from Cambridge, and roughly 70 miles outside of London.
I have no pets or kids. I do however have a wonderful fiancee' who is British with whom I would love to settle down with one day soon.
Military
I entered basic training on 1 February 1994 in San Antonio, Texas. Once I graduated I took a guaranteed job as an air transportation apprentice and I had a further 6 1/2 weeks of training to complete in San Antonio. Once I graduated I was sent to my first duty station, Travis AFB, California which is in the North Bay...one hour from both San Francisco and Sacramento. I was stationed there for 3 1/2 years when the government decided it was time for me to go to a new duty station. Next up was Hickam AFB, Hawaii!! I lived, worked and played on the island of Oahu for the next four years. While I was there I had the chance to go to all the outer islands that make up the Hawaiian island chain, Okinawa, Japan and Guam. My next move came in December 2001 when I came here to the United Kingdom where I've been ever since. It is while I've been here that I've done a fair bit of traveling since this is a good launching point for all of Europe. I've been to Cork and Dublin (once for St. Patr...Expand for more
ickÂs Day), Ireland; too many places in Germany to list; Prague, Czech (former Republic of); Venice, Italy and all through the northern part of the country; Tirana, Albania and twice to Afghanistan...I'm sure that there are many other places I've been...I just can't remember them all. My present assignment expires this December...so once I find out where I'm moving to next I'll let everyone know!
UPDATE...
I have recently been reassigned to McGuire AFB, NJ...this is my first assignment in the lower 48 since I left in October 1997. I am attached to the Contingency Response Wing (CRW)...the unit is kind of like dialing 911 from your home. We are a Rapid Response Unit that is capable of being airborn en-route to any destination in the World in under 12 hours.
At the moment I am waiting for a response from Immigrations and the Department of Homeland Security as I have applied for a fiancee' Visa so that my lovely fiancee' and I can run off into the sunset and get married (she wants to get married on Maui...so guess what?)! UPDATE: We ran off and got married! Not on Maui though...we went to the Na Pali shore (North Shore) of Kauai. What an incredible day!! We then stayed there for another week and honeymooned!
Right before getting married I spent some time in Pakistan and have just recently returned from another trip to Afghanistan (Bagram this time)
