Scott's Story
Life
"Falcons, Falcons, let me hear your best."
"We're the Falcons from WHS!"
It still seems like yesterday that we were shouting that at games and pep rallies. I've been to a few football games lately, and sure enough, they still do those same cheers. It makes me feel like I'm 17 all over again, which is cool - those were good times. West isn't very good at sports nowadays, but it's still fun to watch.
I graduated from the University of Iowa in 1993 with a bachelor's degree, then enrolled in Palmer College. Graduated from there in 1997 with my doctorate degree in chiropractic. I initially went to Washington state because it is beautiful there and I have family in the Seattle area. I had no practice situation ironed out, just the hopes of getting started and living in a fantastic area with lots to do. However, while waiting to take the State Board exam to become licensed, an opportunity in Knoxville, TN dropped into my lap and it sounded like a good thing to do. It was a good job with a good doctor in a great office, but about a year later, an even sweeter opportunity somehow found me and I moved about 90 miles east to the town of Kingsport. y, my good friend and chiropractic colleague, Dr. Shawn Pridemore (WHS Class of 88) developed a degenerative neuromuscular condition in 2006. This has caused a noticeable amount of muscular atrophy and consequent weakness, to the point where it has adversely affected his ability to deliver a good adjustment. He asked me to return to Tennessee to join his practice, which I did in the spring of 2007.
As for hobbies, I am now a licensed football official. I've officiated games from the 5-year-olds to 9th grade levels and will likely get into some varsity games in the next few years. It's a blast, and I love every second of it. I would seriously do it every day if only that were possible.
No, still no wife or kids. In the words of the great philosopher Jon Bon Jovi, "Marriage is an institution, and I'm much too young to go to an institution." I'm perfectly content being single and really have no desire to change that. Instead, I pour all my love to my two nephews, Charlie and Theo, who are the delight of my life.
Was into weight lifting back in "the days" but never got ahold of any steroids, so don't look for me in Muscle & Fitness. And curiously, NBC still hasn't made me an offer to be on ER - they're probably just having a hard time finding my phone number and address.
