Scott's Story
Married since late 1991, we have four boys, all grown and either in college or gainfully employed. I work as a contract lobbyist representing both public and private interests, primarily in Olympia and Washington, D.C. My wife, Sherry, is the Budget Manager for the Washington State Dept. of Revenue. As you might expect, we live in Olympia.
I try to stay physically fit, and since the 1980s, I have competed in numerous runs, bike races, biathlons, and triathlons. Recently, annually from 2007 to 2012 I competed in an 11.1 mile mountain trail run (the MVSTA's Cutthroat Classic) that offers spectacular views of the North Cascade...Expand for more
Mountains. It's pretty arduous, as the starting line is at 4,800 ft. above sea level, with the first five miles uphill to Cutthroat Pass (6,800 ft). The next 6.1 miles are a mix of downhill stretches with switchbacks, washed out creek beds, etc. Amazing race that I hope to try again in a few years.
In 2013, at 55 I decided to compete in the Washington State Senior Games in five Track & Field events. I was fortunate enough to make the podium in four events, including winning one. As a footnote, I would point out that I was the only competitor not wearing cleats, albeit by my choice due to a nagging injury. Just saying...
