Greetings All,
My story is simple, "Best laid plans of mice and men, often go awry" <Steinbeck>. My future then (1982) as I saw it was to be the next greatest ichthyologist or Marine Biologist. One obstacle that I couldn't ignore was the fact that Colorado didn't border on any of the world's oceans. Not to be detracted, I found a solution. I enlisted in the Navy. Not only would the Navy help fund my education but I could obtain immense nautical experience which fell inline with my pursuit of Marine Biology. So in the Fall following our Senior year I was shipped of to Boot Camp in San Diego. I figured after one enlistment I could then apply to one of many California Universities, reside in "the Golden State", surf, frolic with the fishes, and work to my hearts content.

y retired from the Navy. I am now a civilian that works with the Navy Maintenance Databases. Somewhere along this journey the pursuit of Marine Biology cooled off, it wasn't as important where I lived, and computer programming got interesting. Not to imply that I sold out on my dream, I did spend over 15 years as a Navy Deep Sea Mixed Gas Diver and an additional 9 years as a Navy Surface Search and Rescue swimmer. So even though I am not an official marine biologist I did swim with sharks, dolphins, and other assorted fish. I went from studying shark bites to fixing Barracuda bytes (couldn't resist the bad network pun).
I am still a huge sport's fan. I was one of the only Rockies fan out here on the East Coast. Needless to say I was lucky enough to marry a Redsox fan and she has been enjoying the year after the "Sweep" immensely. Our two kids loved the rivalry. One is going to medical school and the other will be graduating high school next year.
