Scott's Story

Hi All. It's nice to be here. I'm 41 now. It took 20 years to get to a point where I can say, "Life is really good, and I have no current regrets." Thats a nice place to be. Not sure how most of you remember me. I remember a nice kid with awkward confidence on a very skinny frame who hadn't refined his ability to be humorous, or sensitive. No sense of self. After East, I went to TSC (now TCNJ). That was a good move. I technically failed out my freshman year, but they gave me another shot and a semester to turn things around. I had a 3.5 my last 3 years. I bounced from Biology to "pre-law" to Communications by Junior year. Got my ass in gear, took summer courses and finished in 4 with a Communications degree and a Business Management minor. Had one girlfriend for 2 years then fell in love with my future wife as a senior, dumped my old girlfriend and got married two years after graduation. That was the best move I ever made. Sue, my wife, is a tremendous woman. She is a wonderful nurse working in Philly, incredibly smart, witty, caring, beautiful inside and out. I married up and married well. We joke that our second marriages should be for money and not love. College was great. Really great. Lots of friends, interesting people, great professors, and many fond memories. I sat down during the summer of my sophomore year and said,"What is it I love?" I loved the radio and I loved advertising. So I went for it. Right out of school I got a job as low man on the totem poll at a recording studio in Philly. I stayed there for almost 13 years. Became a good engineer who had a way with clients. After about 4-5 years, I hated working there. But I was committed. Not only to the craft, but to the idea that I needed to make a name for myself. I made a decent living, but not tremendous. I bided my time for years and years. Along the way, Sue and I had Michael and Claire. Two of the greatest kids I know. Thanks to their mother, I always say. Today, they are 16 and 11. Kids are growing up great and our families still lives fairly close. Some of you may remember that I loved baseball. My son Mike is throwing 80-83mph as a sophomore. If he keeps it up, he'll play good college ball. My daughter is a ballerina/softball/field hockey girl who likes to sing and text. Mike is a bit of a Ferris Bueller. s teachers concerned about his well being. The trend here is that both my kids and my wife are living the exact opposite life I had in growing up. For that, I am eternally grateful. We live in a small town in South Jersey. Mayberry with BMW's. Along the way, Sue and I became Eucharistic Ministers. So I spent 13 years at this one studio in Philly and got to a point where I needed to own it or own my own. 8 years ago I started my own. We struggled, but managed. It grew each each year and became something. And right now, after a recent merger I orchestrated prior to the economic collapse of the world, I am half owner of the largest audio post production facility in Philadelphia. Thats pretty cool. Big fish, small pond. But it's very satisfying. . Life is good. No regrets. I don't own a BMW, or have a second home. My 401K is now a 201K like everyone else. I still watch and go to Yankees games even though I do root for the Phillies and was very happy for them, as only a Yankee World Series veteran fan can. I have done some traveling with the family but not out of this country. California often, AZ, East Coast. I have also become a pitching analysis/mechanics expert. Meaning, I could actually give MLB coaches a consult, if they asked. I weigh 200lbs. Thats 50 more than when I was in HS. But I carry it well enough to pitch in a men's 35+ baseball league each Sunday morning for the past 5 years. This year I pitched two 9 inning complete games in utter exhaustion, and 90+ heat and humidity, but it was great. So, other than my fondness for electronic gadgets, making things sound good, great kids, a job I have always considered a passion, and a genuine love for Jesus Christ, I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Maybe you'll visit audiopost.tv? Enjoy. Cheers! God Bless. Maybe I'll make the next reunion. Dream Out Loud. -scott "waz" wasienko I became a huge U2 fan in college. Sue and I met Bono twice, 1992 & 2004. Chatted briefly, got autographs and pictures. Shook hands. Priceless. And surprisingly, despite my high hairline in HS, I still have most of my hair. Although I'm sure I just cursed that and it'll begin falling out tomorrow. Sue likes the graying affect. We have a fun dog. Her name is Holly (born Xmas Eve). She is a 2 year old Schnoodle now; a stuffed animal on batteries some would say. Very sweet. So, how are you?
