Sean's Story

Life Greetings friends old and new. I am glad you found this place. Feel free to drop me an email. You can find me on Facebook too! My life isn't summed up by where I studied, but I suppose I'll start there. I studied at two undergraduate institutions during my college years. From 1990 - 1993, I studied at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. Afterwhich, I transferred to Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas in 1994, and finished my BA in Religion. It was during my college years that I came to the Episcopal Church. After my undergraduate years, I studied for an M Div at the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. I finished in May of 1999. My wife Kiezha, a Tennessee native, and I met during my seminary years Kiezha while worked at the seminary as assistant to the Director of Church Communications and the Director of Annual Giving. For those wondering, Kiezha's name is pronounced "Kee-sha." Her father was always annoyed by the sheer number of other "David Smiths" in the world and insisted that his first-born have a name that no one else would have. Born in Cleveland, Tennessee, Kiezha attended Austin Peay State University and majored in print journalism with a minor in history. After a year and a half at Sewanee, she began work at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, as production editor in the Media Relations Division of Vanderbilt. During our years in Athens, Georiga, she worked as the Publications Designer for the Georgia Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Kiezha now is an administrator at Western Michigan University's Lansing Campus. Following seminary, I was ordained to the diaconate in June of 199...Expand for more
9, and called to the be the Chaplain at the Episcopal Center at the University of Georgia. On February 5, 2000, I was ordained priest. I served at the Episcopal Center from July of 1999 to December of 2002. Athens, Georgia is one of those amazing places to live. We very much enjoyed our time there, and miss our students. In January 2003, we packed ourselves and headed north. (It is a brutal thing to move from Georgia in December to Michigan in January.) We moved to Lansing, Michigan, and I began serving as the Episcopal Chaplain at Michigan State University - to a chaplaincy called Canterbury MSU. We have enjoyed our time in Michigan tremendously. I still play acoustic guitar. Kiezha is a dedicated Macintosh users, and I have finally switched to a PC these days. I really enjoy electronic gaming, fishing for trout and salmon (I quite enjoy flyfishing - for all you Kansans out there, it really is a lot of fun!!). What would life be like withour some time watching the tube (Dish Network is a delicious thing). We have a PVR - the non name brand TiVO thing. It rocks and I will never go back to watching commercials. Kiezha is an avid reader and loves to cook. She has begun scrapbooking to try and organize her shoebox collection of photographs. We both enjoy trying new restaurants and watching movies. We have had dogs since we've been married. We have two yorkshire terriers - Tigger born on Mothers Day 1998, and GUINNESS, born on March 3, 1999. And while we love our dogs as much as if they were our children, we are in the process of expanding the family. We are expecting our first child, a boy, to make his first appearance on this earth on or around November 18, 2005.
