Sean's Story

Life Life story time: After BCHS I lived in Vail for a year. It was the late 70's so you can imagine what I did. I do remember some things, amid the haze of chemical and alchohol mixtures; like huge air off the cliffs and lips at Mid-Vail, miles of bumps on Ricky's Ridge in the springtime, Prima-Pronto-Logshute non-stops (man I had some lungs back then) running raft trips in the summer and jammin' with friend above the Baskin-Robins in Crossroads. I started at WSC in Gunny in '78 and stayed there for six years and three degrees: BAs in Music and Art and an MA in Music. Great place to gig, paint and write. Almost went to U of Miami to do a PhD but wanted to make some $$$ for a change. Moved back to Denver and started as a Stockbroker and stayed in the biz for over 18 years. Holy crap! Got an MBA from DU in 2000. What a fantastic place that is, with an excellent entreprenurial methodology! Got out of Schwab in April of '01 and then tried to go on my own as an advisor on September 10th, 2001. GREAT FRIGGIN' timing, huh? Two years later, after divorce and losing it all, I started in Commercial Lending. I have worked at Horizon Bank off 6th and Indiana since December of 2005. I've got 2 kids, 2 grand kids (yeah that's right). Lived in AZ for awhile so I finally got my golf swing groved in. Still playin' music. I tried to put our band's website in here but it kept my Bio out of view. So go check out the site which is our singer's name, but all one word, Aimee Bushong, or Google me and it'll link to the site. Have some great memories of BCHS, don't remember any bad stuff. It was a great school, great friends and some awesome teachers. School I have some fantastic memories ...Expand for more
from BCHS. I still think back to the ALTEX opportunities we had. We were exposed to some very interesting work/study/experiences: ski industry sessions in the Boat, the Butte, Vail and others. Lew Buckingham was pretty friggin' dialed in. The desert trips were just that. I've been back to Canyonlands a couple of times, once on a raft trip where the ALTEX experiences helped prepare me for dealing with adversity. College Western was a great ride. I guess it must have been, since I stayed there for six years. No really, the folks that get to go to Gunny are lucky, because the exposure to great faculty and low student to professor ratios is huge. I think there were many more opportunities than could be had in a larger institution. Around the Turn of the Century (that's funny, huh?) I went to DU (Daniels College of Business) to do their Executive MBA program. After some remedial programs in Accounting, Finance and Stats, (because my MA in Music didn't prepare for Cash Flow analysis, NPV or T-Values) we started the program. After some introductory coursework, we went on a sailing trip to San Diego, to storm, norm and bond. What a great way to start the program. The integrated course work was both rigorous and interesting. For our international section we went to Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. I can't say enough about the Daniels program. It is really superior. Workplace Horizon Bank in Golden VP of TP. Just kiddin'. This is a great bank that has grown fast, all through asset growth instead of aquisitions. The branch I'm at has a great team of lenders, assistants and staff. We do some great commercial deals, have interesting clients and compete in a challenging rate environment.
