Shamus's Story
Life
Well where does the time go?
Its now December 30th, 2004. Can you imagine that next year will be 10 years since we all graduated from High School?
I am still in school. I'm just finishing up my last semester the Broadcasting Program at MRC, and I Love every minute of it. My goal after school is to get paid to use my voice - in either radio, commercials or voice-overs for television.
I do a lot of volunteer work with LITE 96 and JACK FM giving away Travel Mugs and t-shirts at trade shows here in town, as well as giving my time to the Toy Mountain Promotion with LITE 96 and the Salvation Army. This year we collected over 30,000 toys for needy children here in Calgary.
My Parents and my sister Shauna now live in Doha, Qatar, where my father works in the HR dept of a company based out there. The weather is crazy hot and humid and takes quite a long time to get used to. My mother will be going to SRI LANKA soon to help with the disaster efforts there. They say there are over 100,000 people either dead or missing. That's insane. I can't relate that to anything besides a large number right now. It's like if the population of Red Deer suddenly all died. That's a lot of people.
But I guess that's it.
Happy New Year everybody, and all the best in 2005.

smile to my face. How do I describe myself to people now that want to know what I was like in high school? I always say that I was all over the map - I was in Choir, Drama and football. I had friends everywhere, but still spend far too many minutes sitting in the library at lunch by myself.
I had a crush on many unsuspecting ladies during my time at St.Mary's. I remember certain girls that I sang with.. Certain girls that I acted with. I'm not going to name any names, but I just wanted to thank them for not jading me for life. I am sure that most males at St. Mary's had the same crushes on the same few girls. You know who they were. Every high school has them. Same with the few attractive teachers that we had. All the same names that pop up in conversation when you bump into someone from school now.
Would I do it all again seems to be the question of the day. Well that would depend. Would it be 1993-95 again? Then yes. If I had to go back right now, my answer would be no. NO way.
College
Mount Royal College was the place for me. Smaller than the U of C, and closer to where I was living - those were the selling features that lured me into it.
Workplace
What can I say? Broadcasting is definately the place for me. Not a month out of school, and I got scooped up by a radio station as an on-air dj. You can read my little blurb at shinefm.com
