Shanel's Story
Life
I have been living with my BF on and off for the last year and we have been together for about 4 years. We have a total of 3 cats. He has 2 big long haired named Tiger (white and orange) and Spanky (mostly black w/white on her chest and belly) and I have my one crazy cat named Shadow (mostly black w/white on her chest and belly). No kids so far.
School
In high school I wasn't very popular at all. I was a band geek and now that I look back on things I don't think I would want it any other way. Band helped to build me into the person I am today and I am very proud of that.
My biggest crush in high school was Jay Dinkel and he was always nice to me and I think that is what I liked the most. No matter if he was around his friends or not he would always say "hi" to me in the hall. If he ever reads this I would tell him thank you.
College
I was going to school at the Art Institute of Colorado for photography, but it became too expensive for me and I quit in May of 2005.
Workplace

Military
I left for basic training on January 12, 2004 to Ft. Lost in the Woods, Misery. Got to Reception and failed my first PT test. Was stuck in reception for a month before passing my test (finally) and heading down to basic training. I got injured within the first week of basic and it just went downhill from there for me. Went through the gas chamber and injured myself in the bayonet corse. During BRM was put on the injured list again and I ended up getting recycled from 82nd Delta company to 82nd Echo company. I pretty much had to start all over again. Did practically everything in that company BRM, but failed my final PT test. Went out for the 15K and half way through and fractured my ankle. Everything was hell after that. While out in the woods sleeping on the ground the Drill Sgts. tore my tent down twice, and more humiliation started then. (Fun stuff). Fractured my ankle in May and came home on June 6, 2004. Overall I learned a lot about myself and sometimes I wish i had another opportunity to complete basic.
