Shanna's Story
Life
Why did I stay in the Lake Tahoe region? Is there any place better to live? I have lived in several places around the country and can think of no place IÃÂd rather be. I moved to Truckee, CA, from Berkeley, CA, to get away from the city "for a year or so"; that was 1994. I immediately fell in love with the fresh air, the majesty of the mountains, the sense of community, enjoying four seasons again and, a few months later, with snowboarding.
During the summer of 2000 I met and fell in love with the man who was to become my husband: Andrew Entin. We married in July of 2003 on the shores of Donner Lake, Truckee. In March of 2004 we bought our first home, located in the Donner Lake basin.

Tomorrow would have been our 7th anniversary. In March 2009 my entire life was turned upside down when my husband succombed to injuries sustained in an avalanche. He was a professional ski patroller at Squaw Valley, home to the VIII Olympiad; he was just doing his job. He was 41 years old.

he course of ten years. I then had an opportunity to join TimeLogic Corporation, located in Crystal Bay, NV, a small bioinformatics company, as the AP/AR Clerk eventually being promoted to Office Administrator. This depth of experience gave me the perfect training for my position as the Payroll and HR Assistant with Tahoe Mountain Club. I enjoy the fast pace and the ability to make a difference. But the best aspect of my job is the talented group of people I have the privilege to call my colleagues. In addition, the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an amazing company such as Tahoe Mountain Club - whose values more closely mirror my own - is definitely a close second.
In December 2005 I had the opportunity to transfer from Tahoe Mountain Club to East West Partners. TMC and EWP are sister organizations. EWP develops communities and TMC runs the facilities for those communities. The team of people that I have the good fortune to work with is amazing. Still, the corporate values closely mirror my own. And I love my 4.5 mile, 10 minute commute. (It extends to 20 minutes in the winter and can take about 30 minutes in a storm as long as the roads remain open.) I have the freedom to take off as much time as I want (can afford) as long as my job is done.
