Shannon's Story

Nice and fun but with integrity. However, I'm afraid Ms. Rice would NOT remember me, or our class that way. Not with Richard Gates III climbing out the window of the second story class. Remember how she used to stand at her desk and hold her breath and pound on her desk??? And I became a teacher?!? I always wanted to be a Wife & mom when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a ridiculous idea. As it turns out, they were right & wrong. My husband & I adopted three wonderful sons but whoo-weee, what a hand-full that can be. They are the joy of our lives, though. They range from 27 down to almost 13. I want to say "Senator, I don't recall, but if I did I'm sure it happened at Service-Hanshew." If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have money, sufficient for my needs and commensurate with my level of expectations, an office of my own, and a company car to be able to deal with the day-to-day. Okay, maybe this just shows my age... But truly my father was an inspiration to me. He was a man of deep integrity and honor. He believed in hard work and an honest day's work and pay. He never said it, but he taught by example, the golden rule. His children all achieved adulthood with the same ethics. What more could a parent hope to pass on to their children? My husband just retired from doing 30 years in the Navy. That was after I spent my entire childhood with MY family. To quote Marvin Gaye, "Papa was a rollin' stone... Where ever he laid his was [our] home!" IWe left Anchorage in 1972 for Oroville, CA and my 13th school. Since my husband & I married we've lived in multiple bases in 5 different states and two different countries. BUT I LOVE IT!!! The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Sheryl Garff, because She was very influential in my life.. Having to adopt children. NOt that that's a bad thing. It's just more difficult and you get them when you get them NOT necessarily when you'd like them. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the front door and add on a new house. My dream home would be BIGGER!!!. We just sold my dream house. It was down across the river from St. Louis and I loved it. I had a lake across the street and the ducks & geese would come right up to the front door and I'd ...Expand for more
hand feed them. This house we found in a hurry and it is SO small compared to our other house. :-( It's a jungle out there!!! The journalism teacher, I can't remember her name. If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to my church, then spend the rest on Jake, Riley and Ben. Okay, I wouldn't really give it all to my kids but there were just enough slots for their names. HA! Nope! Didn't go to college 'till I was 30 & then I didn't stop. Got 2 masters. Right here, with this man and these kids in this frozen wasteland waitin' for the other season to get here. I wouldn't trade my life for anything or anyone else's, anyplace, anytime. My current age is 53. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be all hunched over old. I was so completely WRONG!!!. I wanted to be an attorney...'tillI went to law school and figured out just how unscrupulous they even at that stage. Mike Buzzby? That was in 6th grade!!! I have NO IDEA!!! My best friend would tell you I'm outgoing, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as Very outgoing. No! If someone saw me for the first time in 10 years they would walk right past me. I've lost over 100 pounds. Fruit sorter. 3 days. 'Nuff said. I share my home with a dog, a cat and a guinea pig, which I find rediculous 'cuz I just wanted an independent CAT.. Open the bag of food and the toilet and you can leave for a month!!! (No I wouldn't do that!!! I love my little Boo-Kitty.) All my family pictures!!! What better victories can one have? Stay off of TRAMPOLINES!!! In 10 years, I hope to be still running half marathons. I'm going to get there by continuing to work out. I've know her since my oldest was like 2. We've just always been there for each other, ALWAYS. Never judging, just listening. That I would even come. I did go to my 20 year reunion from the high school that I actually graduated from & frankly... what a bore. My first job was at Kinney Shoes Cashier, where I got paid some money, as I recall to spend at Mode-O-Day. What I remember most about it is I never seemed to come home with any money.. Dan Brown... He embarrassed me in the hallway at school and we ended up being the best of friends. I tip my hat to you, Dan!!! With a smile, how else?
