Shannon's Story
Life
Life since HHS...hmmm. college, then teaching HS in Glen Ullin for three years, then marriage and back to Fargo, then becoming a mother, then teaching at MSCTC, then having another child and being a stay at home mom, then realizing we couldn't buy that dream home and mini-van on one salary. I earned a masters in Communication at NDSU and taught at IBC (one of the teachers at the end who did not get paid), NDSU, and U-of Mary, Fargo Center. Then VCSU offered me a one-year visiting professorship, which is now going into its 7th year, where I teach everything from basic speech to intro to composition to gender communication to intercultural communication to group dynamics to introduction to media writing. . in August 2005, and am busy publishing journal articles, book chapters, ... as well as attending conferences throughout the US. My oldest son, Phillip, attends VCSU. My middle, Zachary, goes to Fargo North, as does my daughter, Brittany. My husband is an over-the-road truck driver. We also have two dogs and two cats. Hobbies? gardening (I have more than 100 different types of daylilies in my yard), raising Koi (we have four fish ponds and this year, 28 baby koi and six adults), travel (our latest family adventure--Thanksgiving in NYC to see Wicked on Broadway and attend a the Radio City Christmas show), volunteering at church and school, going to the family cottage on Big Cormorant Lake, and entertaining friends and family. Goal? Presently, to get caught up in my grading and clean my house :-)
