Shannon's Story
Life
I have two children, Jamie and Jacob, who are 16 months apart in age. Jamie is a high functioning autistic with ADHD, and Tourrette's Syndrome. He has surpassed all initial therapists' predictions in his abilities to communicate and socialize. He is a triumph. My youngest, Jacob, is also a high functioning autistic with Tic Syndrome. The special education system and the IEP process is an ongoing challenge to maintain appropriate services for my angels. Tenacity and advocacy for my children are of utmost importance.
I have been a single mother since September 2006 with sole physical and legal custody. Life has brought us nightmares of challenges, but our strength and fortitude has catapulted my sons and I into a life never imagined - and one with hope and happiness. I currently work in an amazing position as a Site Coordinator for the second largest hospital in California. I am very blessed to be in a position that is so rewarding. I used to work in LA and Beverly Hills and did finally indulge in my life dream of acting in movies and TV, namely ER and Drew Carey. My roles were not significant, but nevertheless did get my toe wet in the industry. I was also the photo double and stand-in for Reba McEntire in a movie called Forever Love. A few of my film and TV credits are listed on IMDB.com. It was a wonderful opportunity in my life before becoming the mother to the most extraordinary angels on the planet. That is what my calling is - to be their mother and guide in the world.
