Shannon's Story

After I got married and earned my masters degree in Computer Engineering in '92, my wife and I moved to Austin, TX. Austin's a great town. A lot of people probably think Texas is all tumbleweeds and sh*tkicker cowboys. Austin has a lot more in common with Seattle, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley than it does with Texas stereotypes. Austin is sometimes referred to as the "Third Coast". Great food here (and not just Tex-Mex) and great music too. The South-by-Southwest Music and Film Festival is held here every year in March. Come check it out sometime. I work as a computer chip designer. I've worked for Motorola (now Freescale), Agere S...Expand for more
ystems (I was one of the first employees there), and a few other companies you've probably never heard of. Currently, I work for Marvell Semiconductor (no, not Marvel Comics). I am part of the team that designs the processor chips that are used in Blackberries. I work too hard and play too little, but I'm just glad to have a job in this economy. I still pick up a guitar once in a while, but I'm more likely to pick up my camera. I'm a semi-pro photographer on the side. I've been published a few times, and I've even had one of my shots featured in a 2-page ad for a photo gear company. It would be great to hear from you, so drop me an email.
