Sharon's Story

Life I almost don't know where to start. I've had so many lifestyle changes (most of them wanted). Sometimes it seems as if I've lived more than one life. I married on LI, moved upstated, divorced, remarried (almost 30 years) have 3 grown children and several grandchildren. We've lived in the city, lived on the farm... oh yeah, that's from an old song. I've worked as a water district mantainance assistant and lab technition, a greenhouse manager, a teaching assistant for longer than I care to admit, and operated a small goat dairy and honey farm. Now we run beef cattle, meat goats and have a few horses (I'm the livestock manager)as well as grow alfalpha hay. I've snowmobiled, cross country skied, rode horses, herded cows and did a great deal of camping and canoeing. There's more but I can't remember it all right now ... Oh, I was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for many years and have been trained in numerous aspects of firefighting, hazmat and emergancy response. And yes I have been in burning buildings and done search and rescue. I absolutaly hated forest fires though, cla...Expand for more
mbering around through thickets and rocks with a tank of water on your back is not my idea of fun. I feel exhausted reading about it. There has been plenty of time for reading, writing poetry, painting and plain old goofing off. I love AZ. The climate is much more to my liking (no long, cold dark winters) and helps my poor old bones feel good. Bye the bye, the worst two injuries I ever received was as a teaching assistant. While most of my students were good honest kids, I worked with some pretty rough special needs kids too. Well, that's all I have time for right now. All I have to add is that I've enjoyed doing what I've done and love all the knowledge I gained doing it. School Mr. Kelly or Keily and Mr. Harrison were real inspirations for me in THJHS. I still count myself lucky for having had them as teachers. There were others as well, but their names escape me right now. In UHS, Mr. Ring and Mr. Coffee as well as Mr. Ranzizzi were great teachers who not only inspired me but kept me going through some pretty tough times while I muddled through my teenage years.
